Restoring Raynor

Hole 11: Redan

Redan features a perched, diagonal green sloping from front right to back left — often quite severely. Missing the green long and left is preferred, while a low, running shot to the front right portion of the green presents the easiest route to flag access.

2026 Restoration

The Redan green will be enlarged and angled to improve playability, allowing balls to work from the front right to the back left portion of the green. The bunker behind the green will be enlarged — adding drama to tee shots. The original cross bunker will be recreated so shots just carrying this bunker with a low ball flight will run up the approach and utilize the Redan green as it was intended.

Looking Back in Time for the Hundred Years Ahead.

The Mountain Lake golf course restoration presents an opportunity to not only preserve, restore, and improve upon Seth Raynor’s design, it also allows us to reaffirm our commitments to the principles of great golf course architecture, environmental stewardship and aesthetics. As we modernize to meet the evolving needs of the club, our primary goal remains to enhance enjoyment and playability for members.
